Research Misconduct

Allegation of Research Misconduct

Mimbar Yustitia: Jurnal Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia is committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity. The journal takes all allegations of research misconduct seriously and handles them in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Definition of Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:

  • Fabrication — inventing data, results, or findings that were never collected or obtained;
  • Falsification — manipulating research materials, data, or processes such that the research is not accurately represented;
  • Plagiarism — appropriating another person's ideas, results, or words without giving appropriate credit;
  • Duplicate submission or publication — submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously, or republishing previously published work without disclosure;
  • Salami slicing — fragmenting a single study into multiple publications to artificially inflate publication output;
  • Image manipulation — altering figures or images in a way that misrepresents the original data;
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest;
  • Ghost authorship or gift authorship.

2. How to Report

Any person who suspects research misconduct in a manuscript under review or an article already published in Mimbar Yustitia may submit a written report to the editorial office:

Editorial Office — Mimbar Yustitia
Faculty of Law, Social and Political Sciences
Universitas Islam Darul 'Ulum (UNISDA) Lamongan
Jl. Airlangga No. 3, Sukodadi, Lamongan, East Java, Indonesia 62253

The report must: (1) identify the article concerned (title, authors, volume, issue, and DOI); (2) describe the alleged misconduct clearly and specifically; and (3) provide supporting evidence where possible. Anonymous reports will be considered at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.

3. Investigation Process

Upon receiving a report, the editorial office will: (1) acknowledge receipt within 14 working days; (2) conduct an initial assessment; (3) notify the corresponding author and request a response if warranted; (4) consult COPE flowcharts and guidelines; and (5) communicate the outcome to all parties. All reports are handled confidentially.

4. Possible Outcomes

Depending on the findings, the journal may: reject the manuscript; issue a correction or erratum; publish an expression of concern; retract the article; notify the author's institution; or impose a ban on future submissions from the implicated author(s).

5. Good Faith Reporting

The journal will not penalize any person who reports misconduct in good faith. Deliberate false allegations will be treated as a serious breach of publication ethics. For further guidance, see the COPE Flowcharts.
