Conflict of Interest Policy

Conflict of Interest Policy
Mimbar Yustitia: Jurnal Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia

1. Definition

A conflict of interest exists when a personal, financial, professional, or institutional relationship may influence β€” or may reasonably be perceived to influence β€” the conduct, reporting, review, or publication of research. Conflicts of interest do not disqualify a manuscript from publication; transparent disclosure is what matters.

2. Authors

All authors must disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest at the time of submission, including:

  • Financial relationships (employment, consultancy, honoraria, grants, stock ownership) with any organization that may have an interest in the subject of the manuscript;
  • Personal or professional relationships that could bias the research or its interpretation;
  • Institutional affiliations or funding sources that could be perceived as influencing the findings.

If no conflict of interest exists, authors must include the following statement in their manuscript:

β€œThe authors declare that they have no conflict of interest.”

3. Reviewers

Reviewers must decline to review a manuscript if they have any of the following relationships with the authors:

  • Current or recent (within three years) collaboration, co-authorship, or employment;
  • Direct personal relationship;
  • Financial interest in the outcome of the research.

Reviewers who identify a conflict of interest after accepting a review assignment must notify the editorial office immediately.

4. Editors

Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest. If the Editor-in-Chief has a conflict of interest, the manuscript will be assigned to another member of the editorial board.

5. Disclosure in Published Articles

All disclosed conflicts of interest will be published in the article. If none was declared, a statement to that effect will be included.

6. Undisclosed Conflicts

Failure to disclose a known conflict of interest constitutes a breach of publication ethics. If identified after publication, the journal will investigate in accordance with COPE guidelines, which may result in a correction or retraction.
