Policy on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in Publications
Authors may use generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools exclusively to enhance the linguistic quality of their manuscripts, including clarity, grammar, and readability. The use of AI-assisted technologies must comply with the following requirements:
- Authors remain entirely responsible for reviewing, validating, and revising any content produced with the assistance of AI tools to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the submitted manuscript.
- Generative AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) may not be credited as authors or co-authors under any circumstances.
- Any use of generative AI or LLM-based tools during the preparation of a manuscript must be openly and appropriately disclosed in the Methods section.
- Authors must provide a statement entitled “Declaration of AI” or “AI Declaration” at the end of the manuscript, immediately before the References section. The statement should clearly indicate the AI tools used and specify the nature and extent of their involvement in manuscript preparation.
- The use of AI or AI-assisted technologies to create, modify, or manipulate images, figures, or videos is strictly prohibited. All visual materials must be produced independently by the authors without the involvement of AI technologies. However, basic adjustments to brightness, contrast, or color balance are permitted, provided that such adjustments do not obscure, distort, or eliminate any information present in the original visual material.
- The overall contribution of AI-assisted technologies to the manuscript must not exceed 15% of the total content. This allowance applies solely to language editing and polishing and does not include the generation of original ideas, interpretation of data, analysis, or the creation or modification of visual materials.
