Abstract

This study aims to implement the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach in teaching Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV) to enhance students’ interest in learning mathematics. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted over two cycles. Each cycle includes the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 30 eighth-grade students from Class VIII B at SMPN 19 Palu during the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data was collected through interest questionnaires and observations. The data analysis techniques used were quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results showed that the percentage of students’ interest in learning mathematics was 67.82% in the pre-cycle phase, 74.59% in Cycle I, and 83.53% in Cycle II. This indicates that the implementation of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach can improve the interest in learning mathematics among eighth-grade students at SMPN 19 Palu.
