EFEKTIVITAS METODE PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM SOLVING TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR SISWA PADA MATERI PERSAMAAN LINIER SATU VARIABEL

Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the efficacy of problem-solving techniques in enhancing students' understanding of linear equations in a single variable. This quasi-experimental study employs a posttest-only control group design, with the experimental class receiving a problem-solving learning treatment and the control class receiving conventional learning. For the 2023/2024 academic year, this investigation included 57 class VIII students from two classes. The sampling technique employed in this study was total sampling, which resulted in a sample of all eighth-grade students. The instrument is a description test question that comprises five inquiries regarding linear equations in a single variable. The data analysis of student mathematics learning outcomes descriptively revealed that the average score in the experimental class was 57.39, while the average score in the control class was 23.53. This suggests that the class taught using the problem-solving learning method was superior to the class taught using it. conventional education. Next, an independent sample t-test was conducted, resulting in a tcount of 9.875. This indicates that the problem-solving learning method was effective in enhancing the knowledge of students at SMP Negeri 48 Samarinda, as the tcount exceeded the ttable value of 2.00404. Consequently, the null hypothesis was rejected. The analysis results indicate that the problem-solving learning method is effective in improving student learning outcomes. This is due to the fact that students are more engaged and enthusiastic when participating in the learning process when the problem-solving method is employed, as opposed to when it is not used.
