USABILITY EVALUATION OF THE BANJARGONDANG VILLAGE PROFILE WEBSITE USING NIELSEN'S TEN HEURISTICS

Village websites increasingly function as public-service interfaces rather than static information repositories. Their effectiveness therefore depends on how easily residents can find, understand, and use information. This study evaluates the usability of the Banjargondang Village Profile Website using Nielsen's ten usability heuristics. A descriptive evaluative design was applied through heuristic evaluation by three evaluators representing technical, administrative, and end-user perspectives. The evaluators independently inspected the website, documented usability violations, and assigned severity ratings from 0 to 4. Duplicate observations were consolidated, and the final severity of each finding was calculated as the arithmetic mean of the three evaluator ratings. The evaluation identified 12 unique usability findings, with an overall mean severity of 1.81. Consistency and Standards (H4) was the most frequently violated heuristic, accounting for five findings (41.67%). Two issues reached the highest severity of 3.00: an uninformative page-builder permalink and a misspelled transport-and communication URL. Other findings concerned ambiguous service labels, missing breadcrumbs, the absence of internal search and a WhatsApp shortcut, incomplete operating-status information, and limited recovery guidance on the 404 page. The results indicate that the website does not require a fundamental redesign; targeted improvements to URLs, terminology, navigation, service access, status feedback, and error recovery should be prioritized.
