Abstract

The purpose of the research were (1) to know the improvement of students’ achievement on civic education subject, (2) to know the influence of motivation on learning civic education, (3) to accomplish the civic education implementation after the implementation of contextual learning of Thinks Pair Share model. The research used classroom action research within three cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 phases, namely plan, action and observation, reflection, and revision. The research objects were the third graders in the academic year 2013/ 2014. The data collections were the result of formative test, observation sheet, teaching and learning activities. The result from the analysis were  the students’ achievement got an improvement from cycle 1 until cycle 3, cycle 1 (66,66%), cycle 2 (77,77%), cycle 3 (94,44%). The conclusion of the research was contextual learning method gave a positive influence on achievement and motivation of the third graders, then this model could be used as one of the alternative on learning civic education.
